Armor

In the 12th century the armor was called mail. There were little chains attached to each other to make one suit of armor. It took an average of five years to make one suit. They also costed alot of money. Each suit weighed twenty to thirty pounds. That was only the weight on their arms, back, and chest. Plate armor was put in sensitive areas. In the 15th century they made full body suits. The full body suits were made of plate armor. Some helmets covered your face. Some even had eagle beaks. The knights weren't the only ones wearing armor. Their mighty steeds wore armor on their head and neck. It takes a squire an hour to put on the heavy suit. The armor was very important because it helped them from getting seriously injured.

Tunics, trousers, and shawls were worn in the cold. Shawls were made out of wool or fur. Tailors made clothing for the wealthly. Burnet, perse, lincon scarlet, kersey, russet, chalones, damask, and sandal were some fabrics that they used for clothing. Kings and Queens wore bright silks. Holy people wore long cloak with a hood and they had a rope belt with wooden beads for counting prayers. Manor lords wore felt hats and brown jackets. Simple linen shirts and hoses, pants, were worn by the peasants. Shoe makers wore borealis hats and their jackets were wool. The servants in the castles who were men wore tunics and wool leggings.
