Torture

            The medieval period was violent. There were torture chambers in castles. There were different tortures for different crimes and the prisioner''s social status. The definition of torture is delibrate and cruel physical or mental suffering. The object of torture is for intimidation, revenge, or punishment. Some types of torture may be the rack, scavengers daughter, the brank or scold's bridle, ducking stool, dislocation, iron balls, water, the boot, brodequins, thumbscrews, pillory, burned at the stake, branding and burning, execution by quatoring, execution by the wheel, execution by hanging, and hung, drawn, and quatored. Some methods of torture are ripping teeth or nails out, beating, blinding, biling, bone breaking, branding and burning, castration, choking, cutting, disfigurement, dislocation, drowning, flaying, roasting, limb removal, starvation, and tongue removal. There was a torture that used tickling. The torture chambers were located in the lower parts of the castle. They were very small. You don't want want to go to the torture chamber.
