Weapons

                Weapons were very important. A knight on foots' most important weapon is a sword. The swords were made of light iron. Swords could be fancy and used in rituals. Swords could have gold or velvet handles. Swords usually weighed about 2 lbs. Daggers were sometimes hidden in walking sticks. Daggers could be made of steel or iron. Daggers could be thin and sharp. A longbow was carved out of one peice wood. Longbows were normally in castle walls. You need to be skilled to use a longbow. Until the 1800's crossbows were stronger then guns. Crossbows were hard to load. They were easy to shoot. A knights' favorite weapon was a sword. There was even a two-handed sword. A shining sword was used by wealthly knights. A battle ax was swung with both hands. A populaur ax that was used during combat and on foot was called a pole ax. It could knock a man out. A short ax was another kind of ax. A single-handed ax was easier to used on horseback then a double-handed ax. One of the smallest weapons that a knight used would be a dagger. Daggers were used as a back up. A lance was a long wooden weapon. Maces were made of wood and looked like a club with spikes. Bows and arrows were used by archers. A longbow was made of stave or yew wood. War bows need to be pulled at least 80 pounds to make it go far. Weapons were very important.
